Specialized Big Hit
Ok. I found myself another DH bike (fingers crossed) on craigslist and was wondering if it is worth the askers price. He will not budge on the price.
Specialized Downhill Bike
Please tell me its worth it.
And this would be used for more AM riding, than just DH.

i would check to see if the serial number is filed off for that price

Definitely NOT a BigHit. The BigHit has always had some sort of 4-bar suspension with some shape of link between the swingarm and the shock. This bike does not. Not sure what it is, looks like the bastard lovechild between a SantaCruz Bullit and a Yeti AS-X. Also, way does a mountain biker have a "Downhill Bike" rider have a seat jacked that night with a foam cushion on it.
I'd say go check it out, meet the person, ask what year it is, blah blah blah. See if they can give you a detailed list of components (not one copied and pasted from the internet). Be friendly. Get as much info as you can (on bike and seller), get the serial number, and report it to the coppers as stolen. You'll get a warm fuzzy feeling inside for being a good person and just might get someone their bike back.

i asked for a picture of the serial number. he said " I'll have to take it tomorrow" we'll see... and i'm 100% with sambs

DEFINITELY is a BIG HIT.....it is called a Big Hit Spec....it was a low end BH...a single pivot that rode like $hit through the chop...it's not worth 500 bucks
I wouldn't buy that bike

My spending limit is $1000. I ride mostly all mountain trails, I keep off the longer/steeper decents due to my bikes limitations. Im 6'0" 210lbs, ive been out with my buddy on his loaner super 8 and have cleaned most of what he has and all he rides is DH so I dont know how good I am in the DH world, theres not that many DH'ers here is El Paso, which I dont get, we do have a DH/Free ride park.

Don't bother with Craigslist, or that bike either... you can do better. And I'd try and work out another couple hundred bucks into your budget, and then do your best to bargain it down closer to that $1000. Good luck

I'd be all over this bike...pedal and riding the dh...needs a rebuilt on fork....big deal...I would add the extra chain ring in front for trails you ride...this would be a good bike for you....ask for free shipping and give him the 1000...then you spend another 100 on getting fork rebuilt (tell him that to help with price
