For a couple of years now, I have used Doug Cox's software to download Terra Server maps to my computer. Then you can hook a GPS up to your lap top for navagation. Or creat routes and waypoints and print maps.

Sharewear software at his web page http://jdmcox.com/

I don't think it is satellite photos, but it is more like a computer generated 3-D landscape of pretty much anywhere in the world. www.keyhole.com

pretty sweet, a bunch of news channels (CNN, Fox, etc...) use it when describing places where they need to descripe the geography of the land to viewers. Like when the battle in Fallujah was taking place they were showing the streets of Fallujah with it. Pretty cool...
Except you gotta pay for it.

damn, that's a big file. Does the program run pretty well, or is it really slow? I don't have the best graphics card so I'm not sure it's gonna even work on my computer. The pictures on the website look amazing!
