I'm going and I raced it last year. It's fun and yes, you will get tired. But it's fun.

I want to race but every time I've ridden it I've had to stop at least twice for 5 minute breaks. And it's not so much my legs, it's my fingers that can't take it.

Northstar just calls it The Live Wire Classic so idk. Like Boris said its not legs its just overall fatigue. Its just a long pedaly course for a race. (You can get through most of it clearing all the jumps with little pedaling though)

I remember getting pretty pumped going down the trail, and you do have get on the gas out of the corners to clear the next jump in a few places, huge berms do help carry speed well.......biggest berms I've ever seen.

what are winning times typically for the race?
-
pin it to win it

top 10 pro times from last year were sub 5min, i myself did a 4.57 which won me the expert class. the winning time was a 4.44 by tim krentz.
And livewire is a little over 2miles long thats one reason it tires you out.

Just proof that Kyle the old park manager had no clue about cycling. So glad he is gone.

My son got 3rd in Class S17. Does anyone know if there is a trophy or prize for this class/place?
if so how do you claim it?
Do they hold it at the office?
Thanks

I didn't stick around after my race run but there should have been an awards ceremony on the deck after everybody finished their races. At 3rd place he should have gotten a medal if they did it like all the other races. Not sure if they have any of them at the office though since they aren't inscribed or anything, just a colored ribbon with the medal.

I made this video of a part of the race - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLEeGyUMtIk
I realize the quality is bad and youtube disabled sound, so I'll try to upload to vimeo tomorrow (uploading takes a few hours).
Edit: and http://www.pinkbike.com/video/103235/

Yeah, there was an awards ceremony mid-mountain around 4:00pm. I showed up late, (just in time to get my 2nd place medal) not sure when it actually started. Several people were confused/ annoyed at the bottom of the hill to find out it had been changed from the originally scheduled time/place posted on their website of 5:00pm at the ice rink.

Well what an interesting race, Fun for my first race ever, what a fun experience, could have had much better result though course was defiantly for pedaling and keeping good flow. Didnt do too well but still had fun. Looking forward to racing more next year on tracks that I think i have advantages on
