    Kink BMX headlock
Just wanted to know if anyone has used one of these with good results. My LBS gave it to me at no charge. I am running a Cane Creek angle set and from what I read, you really have to tighten them down. This system looks solid. Thanks!

I have a similar gizmo on my DJ bike b/c the hardened steel steerer on my rigid DJ fork won't hold a star nut.

They work fine. My only comment about the one you posted concerns the exposed threads and nut on the top cap. Seems like it would hurt worse and possibly cut you if you ever biffed into that. The one I use has a normal looking top cap. There's several available that don't have the sharp angular bits if you're concerned. If not, cool, disregard. I think that open part on the top is there for the purpose of running your front brake line through the steerer to allow bar spins, which are not possible on a dual crown DH bike obviously.

Thanks! I am planning on running a second nut on top to to help in preventing it from loosening up and cover the exposed bolt.

I'm sure it works great but I wouldn't put it on my bike. I'd rather spend a little bit and get a headlock. That thing looks too out of place for my taste.

I'm not concerned about it looking ghetto! I'm concerned about it working or not!! I have tried every other headlock system out there with the cane creek angle set and nothing has kept it tight! I have read plenty of post on this subject and most of the post seem to say that the problem is with the gimble and the bearings. After looking at it and and watching it loosen, I think the problem is the amount of surface area between the crown race and the gimble.

I use the Azonic Headlock with my angleset to keep her nice and tight.

That headlock is about 15 yrs old. Came out in the mid 90's. It was made to keep your headset tight and if your fork ever snapped off, it would hold everything together a little better. I miss the old BMX days.

what have you done to your headset that you need one of those? I have never had a problem with any threadless headset save kings coming lose. If you get everything aligned correctly, tighten to the proper torque, you're good to go. Sounds like either your shop or you fycked something up.

Installed a Chris King Inset headset and Azonic headlock. She stays nice and tight now!

can't fault you for running a headlock with a king headset, but you could have saved yourself time, money, and weight by switching to geico. And also running literally any other headset out there.

Why did you ditch the angleset?
