My gf is getting into riding with me and as the difficulty level of the trails we go on increases she feels like she is at the point where she needs a FF helmet (as do I). we went to a couple local shops to size out a helmet for her and see what she felt comfortable in. one of the shops had Kali helmets that she really liked the feel of, I have never heard of them but the guy at the shop said they are super high quality. I was just wondering if anyone here has had any experience with them?
Also, second questions, we are going to hit N* this summer and she wants body armor for that... however none of the shops that we have been in stock more than 1 or 2 options and nothing in her size. Any women riders out there or any of you guys have gf's that ride, what have you found body armor wise that works?
Thanks!

Never heard of Kali either.
My wife wears a 661 helmet that is very light, and fits her well. I think it's the Strike helmet.

We also just got her some Rock Gardn female specific body armor that fits her very well, and should work well for her. It's the pink armor on their website. "Lady Flack Jacket"

Kali is really a really new company but I got a chance to check out their stuff at Northstar this summer during the Race for Tara. Their helmets are incredibly light in fact, I was holding what I though was their FF MTB helmet when the rep told me it was really their DOT Motorcycle helmet! They seem to be very high quality but I don't know anyone that has one yet.

yea, I was surprised at how light they are especially their DOT stuff. from the reading I have done (mostly their own website) they are making super light super durable helmets. just wanted to check out how durable they are in action not just what it says on their site. They are apparently a local company (to me) which is kinda cool, if their stuff is good I wouldn't mind supporting a new local company.

I had seen that one... only worry i have is not being able to try stuff on before we order it. but I guess worse comes to worse we ship it back for another size. she is really worried about looking like a football player with all the gear on, the mens stuff that she has been able to try is pretty bulky and uncomfortable for her.

i talked to brad at kali at eurobike and again at interbike. their stuff is really light and their technology seems quite solid. something new in the helmet market and i dig it.

I have been wearing one of Kali's helmets for about six months now. I picked up one of their DOT full face helmets after breaking two 661 DOT ff lids. Not like the 661s didn't do a decent job, I just wanted something different.
The Kali stuff is very light and comfortable, mine has sustained a few medium sized impacts and has held up great.
I have been very happy with their gear so far.
Their soft kneepads are nice too, more comfortable than any others I have tried.
Kali is new to the bike business, but I think we will see more of them as time goes on.

i have their regular full face and carbon half lid. both helmets are super comfy and are of excellent quality. their new carbon full face just came out too. $280 bucks and 850g. being they are located in san jose i'm always up for supporting local companies.

Wild Bill at Ashland Mountain Adventures deals and wears Kali Protectives.
I got a chance to take a look at their knee pads and helmets last October, and man... I was impressed.

Got a chance to hold, feel, and see the technology recently from an outside sales rep. Impressive stuff, and every bit as light as their literature states. Went right ahead and decided to get them into the shop. I've never felt a helmet as light as their new one, the Avatar DH, and that includes TLD... I like the idea of the shell molding with the inner foam as well. Makes sense for both durability and shock distribution. www.kaliprotectives.com

Did you get to check out any of their armor? Looks interesting but not much information out other than their website (which is OK at best) and a review on MTBR (that is a good review but from a sponsored rider).

I just bought one last week. I like it. Here is a small review I posted. I looked at the Mantra but ended up with the Aatma. It's real light, feels great and vents well.

I have a Kali Avatar. Just picked it up because the TLD felt like it was crushing my cheeks. I haven't worn it on a ride yet, but it's damn comfortable and it's got a big "window" for googles. It's also very light. I thought it was going to float away.
I'm pretty impressed with their stuff.
