    Without a doubt, if you want the strongest bars for DH get some motocross handlebars. Their oversized one's are 28.6, Azonic used to make stems that size. Their normal diameter is 7/8" (22.2) same as BMX, so you could use a BMX stem. They'll probably be really wide, so look for some made for 80's or 60's.

    I've heard of some heavy, burley downhill riders running moto bars after trying every type DH bar.
