Hayes HFX mag and HFX-9 HD???

What is the difference between the HFX mag and the HFX-9 HD? Also could I run 6 inch rotor with the HFX-9 HD?
    Thanks

get the mags, the 9s are a budget model with lower quality levers and a history of problems.

    Mags

While in the 1.5-2 years I've been using the HFX's on my Big Hit, now replaced with Mags, I never had a problem I would also suggest the Mags.

My Mags have a more positive lever feel and because of this seem to modulate better. I also think in the long run the Mags will prove to be more durable, the levers on my HFX's have allot of slop in them compared to my Mags.

the hfxs are a cost effective brake, while some have problems Ive had none. because the body on the mag is magnesium it will crack before it bends. Ive bent the body on my hfxs and have succesfully corrected the bend w/ no problems(havent researched the material on the hfxs). personally id prefer a bend over a snap. I have found no difference in performance between the 2.

O yah back to your question, you can use a 6inch rotor w/ the hfx hd, youll just have to get new rotors. the hfx9xc is the 6inch version, while the hfx9 hd is the 8inch version.
There is no performance differences between the 2, just rotor size packages.

    the hfx9s look better IMO.

what??? for 6 and 8 inch rotor differences, it matters what size ADAPTER you have. not what brake you have.

i have the hfx-9's on my bighit for 1.5 years...i have heard of many problems concerning them but havent had any my self...i still want to replace them, and get the mags cause i think they feel much better and are certainly stronger then the hfx-9....skip the 9's, and get the mags.....i dont mess when it comes to brakes cause thats whats going to stop you if you find yourself going really fast, and an old lady pops out of the bushes....watch out for those!

i didnt studda, the hfx9 xc is "packaged" with a 6inch rotor and the HFX9HD is packaged with a 8inch rotor.

Its a da mn good thing you pointed out the specifics of the adapters or we'd all be lost.
