    Funn Brakes

I was looking at the bars/stems on funn's website and stubbled across their brakes... has anyone tried them?

They honestly look like pieces of poop...

Who knows what performance will be. Probably heavy, overpriced, and junky

I was looking at those the other day in an ad and they look pretty "archaic". Looks like old technology compaired to all the new designs coming out now days. But what the hell do I know?

I wouldn't be surprised if the same factory that made Juicies starting in year two made those.

I've ridden them and I didn't like them. The lever shape was really odd and I had to run them way inside my shifters to get them in a good position. Lever feel/modulation was reminiscent of Saints, but without the power. I don't know what it was, but they never became really powerful. I bled them once or twice to see if they would shape up, but no luck.

IMO, probably a decent entry-level brake or for someone on a budget.

Those drop-ins look like Hayes Nines to me. Both caliper and lever body.
No experience with them, but I'm sure they're not worth the cost.

Looks like someone else's left overs to me. My buddy wanted to get some, but I steered him toward the Strokers instead....I think the main selling point of the Funn brakes is that they are white.

I do think that the Funn Combat grips lock-on system is superior to ODI though...ovalized clamp interface instead of the tabs that develop play after a half season. Maybe they should stick to parts that don't have any moving parts or fluids.

One of them does have a split clamp. Looks like it might be the cheaper of the two.

I can't say I'd want to be wrecking and replacing not only carbon levers... but carbon housings... ALL THE TIME.

Plus, wouldn't the pressure of the fluid inside the master cylinder expand the carbon fiber just a little bit, hence, decreasing the braking power?
    Meh.

Prob just "carbon look" sticker over Alloy or Mag from a taiwan catalog. you will see all kinds of stuff in those catalogs that you recognize from major manufactures (hubs, cranks, pedals, shocks, brakes, etc.

I highly doubt the master cylinder has carbon walls; that wouldn't make much sense at all. More than likely, there is an aluminum sleeve that houses the master cylinder and fluid system.

Exactly. The same hydraulics as the non-carbon are pressed into the carbon body. Not "carbon stickers" or any of that ********. Not that these brakes are good performers, but it looks like a step in the right direction.

    Bastid love child....

...of a Nine and Juicy. Especially if they both were heavy drinkers prior to & during conception.
The lever blade & adjuster bushing look awfully familiar...
