anybody who's flown with their bike before, do they allow you to carry a fullface helmet on your carry on items? It doesn't really fit in my bike box at all, and i'm worried that it'll get confiscated or something if i try to bring it on carry on, anybody have any experience?

I fly to Canada this Saturday, issue for me is going through London, can only have one bag, wanted to take a backpack and my helmet in its bag, the pricks in London are real anal about one bag. I will put it in the bike mag protected by the frame...
Hope your flight goes well and no issues arrise...
thanks, i'm figuring it wont be a problem since i went through the entire tsa approved/restricted baggage and no mention, plus its a domestic flight, but i thought i'd check in with people who have actual experience, since theres no shop where i'm going and i gotta bring everything i need. Plus its really intense DH and can't afford a little park lid so i'd hate to get there and be out a helmet with no shops available
I just flew back from Whistler this weekend (FUN) and had no room in my checked bag for my full face Giro helmet. I just carried it on with my messenger bag. On a connector flight, there was not enough room under the seat and it wouldn't fit in the overhead, so on that smaller plane I just wore it on take off and landing. Felt like a doofus, got some looks, but no biggie.
I've taken my full face plenty of times - the only time its been any sort of an issue is on the puddle jumpers when it doesn't fit in the overhead. Then it has to go underneath the seat in front - cramps up the leg room but better than knowing its getting tossed around on the tarmac.

The plain had too small of an overhead bin, so no way it was fitting, and my underseat was full (the attendant was being a stickler about getting everything away, so I just slapped it on my head. Silly, but whatcha going to do?
To the O.P. just carry on, should be no problems. Just try to cram that sucker under your seat.

get a paintball bag, from empire. they are MASSIVE, it hardly fits in my car (mini cooper) but you can fit everything for two weeks of travel plus a helmet, maybe two if you are handy, and all of the gear you would ever need.
Some people bring things that could hold 3 or 4 full face helmets on them with their Carry-ons...1 helmet is gonna be no-problemo.
