fork help fox vanilla rc2 or totem coil?

my buddy has a 2007 kona coiler deluxe and is looking to upgrade the fork, he asked me what i thought but i don't have much experience with forks so i ask you guys

    2009 fox vanilla rc2
    or
    totem coil

he wants a coil cuz he always is worrying about air pressure and he can't figure out what he likes it set at, so its coil.

    thanks for any help!

I think the geometry would be a bit more balanced with the Vanilla's.

I don't recall what the travel is on that Kona, but if it's above 160 mm and raising the front end won't slacken the headtube too much, go for the Totem. I've had both forks and if the bike can handle a 180 mm fork, it's the better option.

The 36 is a better choice for the Coiler, mostly because it has a shorter axel to crown than the Totem...

Coil forks are usually smoother, but explain to your friend that the air pressure is used to set sag. I have a 36 float RC2 and it works awesome! It's the lightest 160mm fork I've ever picked up... I've felt a few Vanillas and couldn't tell a HUGE difference.
