    Flying Monkey, Virgin, UT

A friend and I had an opportunity this past week to do some riding around St. George, UT, and got invited while there (Monday) to ride the Flying Monkey in Virgin.

This trail was hands down, the most technical, exposed trail I have ever ridden. Many made the comment after the ride that while riding, we didn't even notice how exposed we were due to how focused we were on the technical difficulty of the trail itself.

My friend had his Go Pro camera on his helmet (not sure why the audio is as bad as it is but the links are all below and I'll try to switch them out if my friend does any edits on them) and rolled most of the trail (ran out or memory toward the bottom) and I'm the guy in the green shirt. Long story short, we all made it to the bottom safely with no real issues and have one more experience to talk about.

I wish I could tell you. I think it has to do with the software my friend has on his computer that talks to his go-pro camera but could be wrong. He has been talking about doing an edit of all five videos into one smooth video and also setting it to some music which would hopefully cut out the warbling noise. I'll post it up if/when he gets on it.

I live pretty close and have ridden this trail a number of times, and the scariest section of all (at least to me) is in vid three about 30 seconds in. Because while the exposure isn't as high as further up, the risk of falling is greater, about a foot wide section with a rock wall on your left and playing connect the dots with chunky 'stepping stones', and still a good 15' into a rock bunch of boulders. What else did you ride in my neck of the desert?

I think it took us something like 20 minutes of actual riding time.

That trail looks gnarly, even un-ridable in some places! Looks like you boys had a blast though.

I've got to agree with you there. We rode Grafton Mesa, Nephi's Twist, Flying Monkey, and played a bunch at the old and new Red Bull Rampage sites.

That's all the goods up in Virgin area, but next time shoot me a message and I'd be happy to show you around St.George proper; very good riding to be had!

Thanks, we didn't intend on riding it but when the opportunity arose (a shuttle was offered to us), we definitely took it.
