    DT FR600 and UST tires

I have FR600 rims and was hoping to pick up a pair of Maxxis UST Ardent tires to put on. Does anyone have experience with this combo, or FR600 rims and any UST tires?

I planned on picking up a Stan's kit to do it, but I appreciate input first.

No need to limit yourself to UST tires.
Ghetto tubeless or a tape system (Stans, Specialized, DT, etc) works fine.

I believe FR600 rims are drilled for schrader valve(1). if so, Ghetto tubeless is probably the easiest conversion. Or invest time and fine a motorcycle tubeless valve.

If i was converting these rims to tubeless, i'd go ghetto (using 20 inch tube) and 2-3 scoops of Stans (or other sealant) w my favorite tire. Good luck & let us know what you end up doing

You'll need Stans free ride kit on the Fr600, If that's the way you want to go.

No personal experience, but I've been told to stay away from UST designated tires. Minions, I'm told, tear on the sidewalls pretty easy.

I have Mavic UST rims and I use Spec Butchers with a shot of stans, they make a superb seal with a ride or 2.

I just built up a set of non ust minion dhf exo tires to some fr600 rims last night. I tried the gorilla tape only method, but the tires wouldn't seal up against the rim, even with a compressor. I redid it, leaving the tape on to cover the large spoke holes, and used the bmx schrader tube method. It worked perfectly, and they filled up with no trouble at all.

Regarding the use of ust tires with that rim, I bet it wouldn't work all that well. The ust bead is not going to conform to the hooked shape of the fr600.

Lastly, the minions have excellent sidewall protection if you get either the exo or the double ply.
