Driver 8 vs. SX Trail
I have an opportunity to pick up a 2011 Driver 8 or a 2011 SX Trail.
Both bikes have a great build.
Driver has a Fox 40
SX has a Fox 36.
Your thoughts on the 2?
The wheels on my bike go 'round and 'round
I have a 2010 SX Trail and I am very satisfied with it. I ride mainly fairly groomed lift access riding. Mountain bike park.. and it's perfect for that use.

Between the two, IMHO, the Driver as configured is a better park bike, the SX is a better all-mountain rig. For more general purpose, I'd go with the SX. The Driver is a scaled-down V10 and though more flickable than the V10, but it's really a poor substitute for one. So, if park bike, go with the Driver.

i know this is a little off topic but is a sx basically the same as a demo 7? did it just replace the demo 7?
no. the demo 8 replaced the 7. im sure eventually a demo 9 will replace the 8.
didnt the demo 8 and 7 come out at the same time? and they already had a demo 9... the demo 7 and 8 came out in 07 i think
The Demo 7 had a 7" travel option. The Demo 9 was an old model with 9" of travel.

oops, noahs right. got confused by the numbers. pretty sure the sx was around at the time of the demo 7 so not really a direct replacement.

In 2011, Specialized brought out the fully redesigned Demo. This new Demo was only available as a Demo 8 with eight inches of travel. The seven inch Demo 7 previously available was replaced by the updated SX Trail with seven inches of travel.
The SX Trail is the best mini dh bike I have tried. The Driver really didn't impress me the way the SX did. My vote for park use would be the SX. Older SXTs were a bit more all mtn, but the new one is very dh.
