    Demo 8, 7 frame differences?

Are there any differences between Demo 8/7 frames besides shock length/head tube?

I am thnking of building a race bike using the 08 D7 Chassis with a 222mm (D8 length) shock, a set of Boxxers using a zerostack reducer headset and an integrates stem.

I am on the short side (1.7m tall) and after a parking lot test run on a D8 (original truvativ stem on lower pos/Fox 40 upper crown on lower pos) i got the impression i'd like a lower front...

    Geometry...meds for comparison

    Demo 7 Demo8

    22.64 / 22.64 top tube
    29.65 / 22.88 standover
    4.72 / 4.72 ht length
    66 / 65 head angle(steep)
    65 / 64 head angle(slack)
seat angle same 66 steep 65 slack
    14.72 / 14.96 bb height (high)
    14.25 / 14.49 bb height (low)
    46.65 / 46.57 wheel base
    chainstay the same 16.57

    1.5 / 1 1/8 headtube
    seatpoast the same 30.9mm
rear hub same 135mm(6 mm drive side offset)
    bb shell same 73 mm
    2.375 with limiter (2.5 without) / 2.75 shock stroke
    8.5 / 8.75 eye to eye(shock)
    7.3(limited) 7.7 without / 8.4 travel

hope this helps.......right out of the manuel

How do you change the bike from steep to slack? I've always wondered, but the owners manual does not say.
    I like rice.

    Flip the front shock mount.

I know the measures, i have read those before posting.

What i want to know is, being all of the tube lengths the same in the charts and only the angles different, does this mean the frame is basically the same geometry wise being the only difference the shock length that would be responsable for the differences in angles.

I have both bikes and yes....I think the frames are basically the same with the fork and shock being the only difference ! I don't know if you can swap the 8s longer stroke shock to the 7.

What i am looking for is to lower the front of the bike (handlebar height) without losing on head angle.

I'd really like to have a lower front end without losing on head angle...

Using the 222mm shock instead of the 116mm and using a zero stack headset will adversely affect the head angle (less slack).

But then again, the Boxxer has a slightly bigger axle to crown height than the Totem (570mm vs 565mm) on it's lowest position and i could still use the Boxxer's flat top crown and correct this a bit while still having a lower front...
