    Bike sizing question

Hey guys, I just purchased a jamis exile 1 (2011) model in a size 17. I'm 5'7 with a 30" inseam. The bike feels big, but I think that's just because i'm not used to the 29 inch wheels. I was just curious if downsizing a frame helps with more aggressive riding, or is more of a comfort vs aggressive battle?

plus, like me, you are at the size where you can probably go in between small and medium in most bikes.. 17 would be medium.. in years past when bikes were sized in inches, i always found a 16 or 16.5 to be perfect, these days, I typically end up on a medium, but could easily ride a small (I am 5'8).
