i've heard that the bighits can take a fair beating but the umf looks strong too, just wondering component wise which one is better. Not fussed about weight.

The UMF has a steep head angle, 67 degrees, while the big hit has a fairly slack 65.5 degree HA. This will make the big hit much more stable for you shredding downhill. Neither have good components but the UMF has better components. The Big Hit would give you a better base to do upgrades to though. You're choice, you really want a big hit 2 though... the 1's pretty much not worth it to even buy.

the umf freddy 1 is better than the big hit 1, but the big hit when upgraded can be much better.
my best frein is getting the freddy on monday, so i can tell you by maybe on tues or someting how it rides
BTW, you could always go on the umf site
