Bicycle Blue Book / Specialized SX Trail 1/3

So I have a 2007 Specialized SX Trail that I am going to try to sell soon. People seem to trust this Bicycle Blue Book for pricing now-a-days but I find it to be kind of inconsistent.

It lists the 2007 Specialized SX Trail I as being worth $500-$575. Now my bike has an aftermarket Marzocchi Bomber dual-crown coil fork. The rest is stock. $500 seems really low to me for a very functional DH bike. And Bicycle Blue Book lists the SX trail III as being worth nearly $800, and I'm not sure why the (arguably minor) difference in components would somehow make that bike worth so much more.

What's a fair asking price considering the upgraded front suspension? The bike is in excellent condition with minimal use (it sat in my basement for years after I bought it from a guy who barely rode it, and last year I maybe had 2 rides on it).

    Can I realistically get $800 to $1000?

    26" bike sales have tanked.
Unless you get really lucky and get someone who has an irrational emotional attachment to a your particular bike, be prepared for lowball offers and lower than desired selling price.
    Forget the component spec.
    It's a 10 year old ride.
Mechanical condition and wear and tear trumps the product spec.
New tires, refreshed suspension, fresh brake bleed, new brake pads, low mileage drivetrain, new grips-that's what saves the next purchaser money in the short and long term.
If the bike is in excellent shape and needs nothing, then you can likely push for a higher dollar.
However, ask a reasonable price and be willing to accept quite a bit lower.
Old 26" wheeled bikes can be had for super cheap these days.
If you can get $800 for it, you win.
