DISREGARD this reply Scroll down to the reply with the last two bikes
I have a fully that I am very happy with for freeriding but I always find myself wanting to do some skateparks or urban or ride at the bmx track and my bike just isnt suited for it so Im looking for a dirt juping and urban bike that can take some abuse for around $400.
Here are some I found, any opinions would be helpful:
STP 3:
not really feeling the Trek Bruiser 3:
I was actually researching as I did this thread and I guess thats kind of it unless anybody has any better or different ideas
Thanks
Jim

Its down to two
I realize that both will ned a new fork but I am going to see if they can survive one season of light use. Which one of these in your opinion has a better scomponent spec and geometry? Giant STP 3
I would rather buy from a lbs which carries Giant but there is also one who I belive carries mongoose. But the bottom line is I expect things to break and Id like it to be easy to get warrenty replacements untill I can afford new components
the stp3 frame is NOT the same as the stp1 and stp2 models. The tubing is lower quality.
Seriously, for $400 you are not going to get anything decent with a suspension fork.
You might find something used that will be semi-decent, but NEW? forget it.
Unless you want to get a BMX bike. Those can be had pretty cheap, and will hold up.
i'd just get a 24" cruiser and throw a DJ fork on there.. it'll be great for dirt jumping... i ride 20"s and i love them... they're super fun for riding skateparks and street. they kill it on dirt too. it also helps you alot with DH and FR stuff too. i'd check out a nice 20" on www.albes.com or i'd get a used mountain bike...
If 20's feel too small for you and are tough to transition back and forth from the mtb (as they do for me), then get a beefy 24" bmx cruiser. I love my Haro Nyquist R24. I think it retails for $375 or so. Plus you can try pegs with no worries. If you want an '04 cheap pm me as I'm on the '05 now.

why do you constantly leave stupid replys on every thread, i dont think i have seen you say one informative thing here ever. So just help or dont reply
I work at a Trek/Giant dealer and have built both of those low end bikes. That said, the STP is just too cheap, the Bruiser is a better spec for the money. But, since I'm not at work right now, go with the Mongoose. It seems to have a much better spec than the STP and better wheels than the Bruiser, plus it looks to have horizontal dropouts. More possibilities in my opinion, just get a shorter stem.
I dont know why companies offer those frames with low end forks not intended for dj/or urban.
TRUE!! I got a DK Slugger, came with Marz EXR Comp (I dont really like it). Personaly I like the feel of no suspension, & want a good fork for trail riding etc, & will lockout. Im not an Urban/park rider. Any suggestions?
You should be able to still order an 05 stp2 from giant. I got my lbs to order one and picked it up about a week ago. Paid $450. See what your lbs can do for you.
get the DK general lee 24in cruiser. it will be much better for you then one of those, both frames seem ok but the parts are shyt. the DK will hold up much better then one of those, and you mite like it more actually. neither of the those are worth anythign i don't think unless you upgraded alot. just my opinion but not worth the trouble.
