04 Demo 9....whats the history on this frame?

This is going down memory lane for some of you....

I got a chance to buy a 04 Demo 9 leftover frame, brand new, for a decent price.

I know Demo's from that era are built like tanks, but weights as much too.

Anyways, any known issues with that frame?

I'm not a racer, just need something burly for shuttle/park/hike-a-bike sessions that will last me for a long time (few years at the least).

High BB (14.5+), steeper head angle 66, 13.5 lbs. and 16.5 chainstays. Built like a tank and super stiff rear end. Rode one for almost 5 years. The bike will last for years but if you could build it under 45lbs you might be lucky. I really liked the stiff rear end and short CS, coming from BMX, but what I like about the new geometry is the lower BB. Bikes feel more stable and faster low and long. As much as I liked the bike, I would look for a 2010 or newer. The newer geometry is of much better.

they will last, but they are heavy...they are almost 13.5 pounds
