no pics of mine...But have one of the blue XE's with lizard skin protector and some ergon grips that I am not sure if I like. When I look for fork and drive train upgrades what kind of size requirements do I need to look at?

I went with a RS Sektor, 130mm to replace the Suntour 100mm stock fork. Dropped over 1lb on the front end and made riding so much more enjoyable. The hub you have, the 7speed, will allow you to run an 8 or 9 speed cassette. Go for a 9 speed 11-36. Buy a medium cage x7 or x9 derailleur, x5, x7, x9, or x0 shifters, lose the large chainring for a bash guard and shorten the chain for a great 2x9 setup. I am running 1x10 x9, but had to use a rear wheel from an 8speed response to use a 10speed cassette. The derailleur hanger on mine was weak, leading to shifting issues, so I got a machined one off of eBay. I hate the paint job.

whats the pros to running only 2 on the front instead of 3? wouldnt you only have 18 gears to play with then? What about the front derailleur?

I went to a 1x setup to lose the front derailleur and shifter and to simplify shifting. For the trails I ride, I found I was only using the middle ring up front, and the bashguard that replaced my big ring, is much more useful than the taller gearing. I went with a 11-36 cassette to give me both a lower and higher gear that I did not have with my last cassette. It makes up for not having the granny or big ring and I lose the weight of the shifter, cable, and chainring.
You may need all three rings, but I think a 2x system would work for most situations and you lose some complexity and bar clutter. I suggested SRAM, because I love how the x7 and up components have worked for me.
    I have a long cage (3rings) now, but I am upgrading to a Type2 short cage(1ring) x9 derailleur.

Shimano Un55 for me, it's worked out really nicely so far...as for what size, mine was a 68x100, pull the cranks and it should be stamped somewhere on there...
