    Top Tube Question

    Hi everyone.

Been struggling with making a frame size choice for a few weeks. Would appreciate a little help/advice from more-knowledgable forum members.

I currently ride a Response with a top tube length of 23 inches (medium). It fits me great with a setback seatpost and a 90mm stem. I'm 5'9" with a 30" inseam.

I would like to upgrade to a Sortie. However, the Response's TT length is right in the middle of the Sortie's small (22.5" TT) and medium (23.5" TT) top tubes.

Would I be OK with either a small or medium Sortie and simply "dial in" the TT with stem length and/or seat position?

Unfortunately, none of the bike shops where I live carry Sorties so i can't go try one out.

    Thanks!

    Josh

At 5'9", I'd definitely put you on a medium Sortie. I'm a couple inches taller than you, and I'm right in between sizes for both the Sortie and Mission. For the Response, I prefer medium

As for positioning, I don't recommend moving the saddle position to dial in reach. Saddle position should be used to optimize pedalling performance and comfort. Then get the shortest stem you can find that doesn't leave you feeling cramped. At least that's the bike fit philosophy that works best for me...
