Base response stories
Who here has turned a base response into something badass? What did you do etc.. It is such a great bike for the price. I have beaten mine up and it rides great. A lot of people are so caught up in getting an expensive bike these days. I just wish it had the rims for discs.. wtf..
Not trying to be sarcastic but maybe check out this thread for some ideas?
no, because they have lots of sports and comps.. Im talking base response.
Well Honestly the line of Response all utilize the same frame so they are all really pretty relevant to what you are asking. But since I have what you call a base ( response XE ) I will tell you what I have done to mine.

FSA SL-XC 300 wheels
Salsa Flip-offs CNC skewers
Bontrager xr3 front/ Bontrager xr1 rear tires
Bontrager SSR saddle
Ergon GC2 grips
Avid fr-5 brake grips
Wellgo WR-1 pedals
SRAM PG-850 ( 11-28T ) cassette
SRAM x4 rear derailleur w/ KCNC gears
SRAM PG-850 chain
Bontrager seat pack
Bontrager Air-support air pump
What is still stock?
Suntour XCTv2 crank ( plan to replace with FSA Dynadrive crank )
Suntour XCTv2 fork 100mm w/ lockout ( will replace with a fox fork later )
Tektro Novela Disk Brakes 160mm ( seems good enough for now )
Seatpost ( have one on order )
Handlebars ( have a new one on order )
Front derailleur Microshift M20 ( will keep stock until it stops working )
So basically pretty soon most of the bike wont be stock, I would say right now its 65% modded and 35% stock, lol. It rode well out of the box but the biggest gains were with the wheels/tires/8 speed rear cassette. Thats where I felt the most gains. Ill post a pic in a minute.
