2014 Mason Hardtail Line: Mason, Mason Comp, Mason Pro

    Hello,

Just noticed they have their 2014's on the website. Looks like they are expanding their Mason hardtail to 3 versons Mason, Mason Comp, and Mason Pro. Seems the Mason is now the "entry level" into the group.

Has anyone seen or heard of prices on these 3 yet?

    Thanks!

Mason FS is up as well, and I presume new? The FS comes in two trims. Notable differences:

Standard post vs Dropper (Kronolog, ouch)
    Non-Kash vs Kashima
Avid Elixer 5 vs X0 Trail
    House Brand??? vs Haven Wheels

    I'm sure there's more...

'13 Mason is now the Pro model, with both new models being lower spec models. All Mason frames switching to Kronolog, which is probably the least reliable dropper on the market, from what I've read.

Also debuting (2) 27.5" bikes, and interestingly, they are hardtails, not trail bikes. The Axis seems a mid range HT. The Lux is women specific.

I called DB they quoted the Mason HT as follows.
    Pro: $2,500
    Comp: $2,000
    Std: $1,700

That is a shame about the dropper post quality.
Can you folks express any quality info on the rims and shock on the comp and pro model?
    Thanks

Bummer about the Kronolog. I've been looking over the new Mason pro, can anyone tell if anything else is changed?

Nope, just the pro. I love new year models. Inferior parts with an increased price.

Just an fyi, Jenson is blowing out remaining stock of size small Mason HTs for $1,900. I think they actually had the Mason priced at 2,200. I presume they sold out their normal sized models, and are trying to take advantage of early demand.

I'd be curious to see if the new models see a bump up in pricing to match MSRP, or if they'll just be sold at the same price point, with a 'higher' percentage sale price off of MSRP...

Anyone seen or ridden the FS/ FS Pro yet? The photos make it look like the CS are massive, yet the specs list only 433 long.

I believe last year's had talas, but judging by reviews it seemed like most people riding the mason hardly used it. Sort of a predictable swap

Anyone considering a 2014 Diamondback should look into Promotive.com. I am not a member but website says joining is fast, easy and FREE. A friend who is a member just ordered an Overdrive Pro for me for $1080+$40 shipping. Order placed last Wed 10/16, shipped 10/17, expected delivery 10/22. JensenUSA's price is $1299+$30 shipping for the 2013, but all they have is small, shipping guaranteed del is 10/29. LBS (Performance) wanted $1599 + $129.52 tax is $1728.52. 2 weeks delivery.

Promotive's prices for the Mason HT's are:
    Mason: $1020 on a $1700 MSRP
    Mason Comp: $1200 on a $2000 MSRP
    Mason Pro: $1500 on a $2800 MSRP

    For the Mason F/S's:
    Mason FS 29: $2100 on a $3500 MSRP
Mason FS Pro: $3600 on a $6000 MSRP

I don't know if these are the best prices available but seem pretty good to me. I did a lot of comparing on the O'drive Pro and came to the conclusion that it is a lot of bike for the $$$. Will let you know my impressions when it arrives.

Can you be more specific as to what is inferior? The fork changed from Talas to Fox, is that what you mean? Not that familiar with the 2013's but here are the specs on the '14. MSRP went from $2500 to $2800 but not representative of street price. Not being argumentative, really would like to know, probably others as well.

I was referring mainly to the change to the Crank Bros Kronolog from the Kind Shock dropper. In my experience the CB is one of the worst dropper posts on the market. I had two self destruct before I ditched it.
