    Providence Cyclocross Festival

Providence RI 'Cross Fest this weekend. Anyone going?

Just registered for a Saturday morning race...I can't wait! I'm hoping to be able to pre-ride the course Friday.

Saturday and Sunday! Wanted to do the Madisons today, but I'm beat from Wednesday and too broke to register and drive a third day.

Is this gonna be your first race?

Cool! Yup, this will be my first race. I can't wait! Gonna head over there in about an hour to check it out and hopefully pre ride. I registered in the 35+ cat 4/5 race at 9 tomorrow. I figured what the heck, I turned 35 this year and I won't have to get up as early as if I did the 8am race.

We should meet up for a beer! I don't know anyone remotely into cross, I couldn't get any friends to go, lol.

Keep your eyes up and watch for crashes, mostly during the mass start.

I go off at 1PM but I'm gonna try to be there about 8AM to do pre-rides between races.

I'm gonna stick around for the pro races after and will end up in the beer tent. I ride a dark green Crosscheck with yellow bars, a green duct tape covered saddle and an obnoxious bright green Bell Super helmet with the big ass visor on there.

Cool man, I'll look for you. I'll be on a black & red Ridley with white bars and will be wearing a red logo ,, free jersey., Although of its chilly in the AM I nay wear a red long sleeve Fox MTB jersey.

I just got back from the pre ride, man that was fun! Its a very off camber course, when I started it was raining, I hit the first turn and went down like a drunken prom date. This is not easy! Lol

Well, the pre-ride is the time to find out how hard you can corner. The lower you can run your tire pressure (without bottoming out in the rough stuff) the better you'll hold on through the corners. It's a fine line how low you can go, but that's part of why I pre-ride. Good luck!

Thanks for the tip. I'm not sure what to run for pressure. I was running 50 today and still managed to pinch flat after botching bunny hopping a curb.

Once the course started to dry out the bike felt much more surefooted.

I also realized I hate my brakes with a passion. Cantis are sh!t. I wasn't a fan of them on the road, and on the track today they were downright scary.
