Max tire size that'll fit 2013 SuperX non-disc, non HM and large CX tire options??

I have some 38s on order and it appears like I should be able to fit them. The 34s I have mounted have plenty of room. Has anyone tried bigger?

I'm new to cross, but not to mountain biking. I always run 29 x 2.25s or so on my XC bike. I'd like to get some higher volume tires to run on the CX bike to let me do some singletrack on the bike. Can someone let me know what's out there? I'd like 38s and bigger, but don't know what the limit is for the bike. A 29x1.9 (I suppose that's 700x48ish) a friend had would not fit so I need something smaller.

Get a tape measure and measure your frame and fork's spacing where the tire tread will be. This will give you a good idea of how big is too big. Subtract at least 5 mm from your measurement and you should end up with a couple of mm of clearance on each side, depending on how aggressive the side knobs are.

My Nature Boy SS has stock 35s on it for racing but I plan on getting 41s-43s for cushy singletrack riding. As it is, if you do CX, bigger isn't always better since you'll want mud clearance and less rolling weight, so 35s are plenty. But yes, for comfortable offroading on your CX bike, volume & cush is nice. Agree with mudge, just measure your frame at it's current closest to tire point, then make sure you leave a bit of "wiggle room" for not wiping the paint off your bike!
