    Cyclocross Convert

    Hi Guys,
I have this old hybrid 1996 giant nutra bike i have come across and was originally going to place my old mtb gear on it for a cheap commuter. However, my mind began to wonder (and being a mtb rider i was wondering if i could add a bit of dirt under my tyres) so i thought maybe i could build a cx bike with it.
    The frame has:

    -1" head tube,
    - enough mud/tire clearance to fit a wide tyre
    - canti brakes

I was just wondering... will it work? Im not going to race or anything and i don't even care if i go single speed rear brake only etc. I have a lot of mtb gear hanging around (slx/xt/xtr 3x9 groupo) and a pair of road wheels (shimano r500s - will these be sufficient?). I just want something to ride fire trails, ultra smooth single track and commute so can it be done or will i have to defy the laws of bike segregation and build up a boring commuter and not have a bit of fun.

Hopefully you can answer my questions!

Sounds like it would work just fine.
