Carogna tape, anyone used it yet?

I have a set of tubulars that got finished just before my last race, but I did not get time to glue up the tires. Now I have a long time until I need to worry about it, but has anyone had personal experience with the Effetto Mariposa Carogna tape? Specifically on aluminum rims with double eyelets (like the Sun Vista Cruiser) that do not have a very smooth rim surface due to the eyelets. I can either go Belgian tape method with glue or try the much less time consuming Carogna.

I haven't, but one of my teammates has and had nothing but good to say about it. He's a clyde (200+), racing 45 B's.

Just updating as I mounted some NOS Vittoria XM 34 tubulars to Sun Vista Cruiser rims with the carogna tape last Friday. After letting them sit around inflated for a few days I took them out on my Niner RLT 9 for an easy spin (commute) and can report back that I did not roll a tire and die. I will get them out again and see what happens with lower pressure, I was running about 27psi, and pushing them harder.

Bringing this one back from the dead.
Any updates on this tape for 2017. Getting ready to glue a set of tires for Cross and I ran into this tape. This seems a bit too good to be true. Hoping anyone had some experience that could they share.

I have it on one set of tubulars with my file treads and have not had any issues with it. Going to be installing a set of intermediate tubulars this weekend again using the Carogne tape. Just make sure you have clean mating surfaces (I use isopropyl alcohol) before installing the tape.

Also know of a few other guys locally that run it with good luck.

Now on tires that has been previously glued, must you clean all the glue off the base tape or even replace the base tape?

I just found the answer on their web site.
As long a you clean the big chunks of glue off the basetape so that the remaining glue is even, it should work fine.
I would also make sure the glue is clean.
Iíll give this a try in a few days.
