Best cyclocross bike for around $1000

I know this has been asked before, but things change... I have been researching bikes and just am not sure what to look for. I really like cannondales caad 6 tiagra. But I want to make sure I am getting best bang for the buck. What are your thoughts on a good entry level but upgradeable bike?

I got a used Crux Expert for 1100 with an extra set of rims.

Competetive Cyclist also has ridley x-rides with 105 for near there

Well if you could stretch it to $1275, the Haanjo Comp is the best do it all bike I've ridden at this price point. The cable actuated hydros work great.

    Carbon fork, 105 drivetrain, etc.

If you're not opposed to Bikes Direct, you can get a well-specced Motobecane Outlaw or Phantom Cross around that price.

I picked up my disc Outlaw for $900, and then started tweaking it with carbon and upgrades... good times!

that caad6 looks nice go for it, but check out craigslist too, i was about to pull the trigger on a diamond back steilacoom 105, then found an Airborne delta Sram apex on craigslist still in the box, the owner had it for like 2 yrs and never assembled it $600, 22lbs with pedals, i don't race or anything but it sure feels nice tho

My only concern with buying a bike online, is what do you do if it's not the right size for you?

I actually found a 06 sschwinn fastback with carbon forks for $300 locally on craigslist, but the guy hasn't responded to me. I also found a ultegra'd out motobecane for $950, but I don't have that much cash right now, I was going to credit card the bike. Lol.

Thanks! I just modded it a bit with carbon bars, carbon stem, carbon seatpost, new tape, and new cables...
