26 inch MTB Frame to cross bike conversion

I have a bunch of parts to convert a 26 inch frame to a cross bike. The sticking point is the rear brakes. Anyone aware of linear pull rear brakes with enough pad adjustment to line up with a 700c wheel in a 26 inch rear end? Thanks!

The short answer is no. But if you look hard enough, you may be able to find custom plate that is dated back to the early 90's.

Even if you are able to find a conversation kit, the larger wheels may increase your bottom bracket height.

Without moving and welding the brake boss, some V brakes will work-i.e Pauls. Check the web site and Sheldon Brown's web site for other co's that have made some.

Last race I went to a guy had converted a steel Breezer by having bosses moved and put on a 700c carbon fork with V brakes - seemed to work nice-He had flat bars not drops but looked like it fit him and rode well.

Looks like Xtra-Cycle makes their own version of the mavic adapter.

cool equipment - it may be easier to buy a used CX frame though. Cheap now that the season is over.
