    26" CX Tires?

I have a 26" MTB (GT Avalanche 2.0) that I am putting a rigid fork on that I will be using as an all-around bike (pavement, limestone, dirt, light singletrack), and maybe even enter a couple cx races for fun.

I was looking for a tire that is fast on pavement/dry but can handle a little bit of wet/mud, and thought that a file tread cx tire would fit the bill.

Problem is that as I look around for tires, all the cx tires come in 700c only. And the 26" tires with tread seem to be 1.9"+. Are there any 26x1.5 tires with a file tread? I cant possibly be the first person to try and do this, right? What have others done?

I got a pair of Kenda 1.7s from Bikeman.com to use exactly as you describe. Got the Carver carbon fork from Bikeman also. The tires roll good with file tread in the middle and corner with some decent side knobs.

If you do a search here or Google it, the two tires that are always recommended are the above Schwalbe and Continental 1.5 Cross Country (which aren't made anymore).

or you can get a 2.2 Conti Race King which is a great trail tire and still rolls extremely fast on pavement.
