    2008 Scattante XRL Cross

This bike was given to me by a very class friend. It's a project, but it should be fun and I plan to have it ready for CX season, as I've never raced before. This will be a whole new experience for me.

I added the Fizik saddle, but everything else was given to me. I plan to find a rear wheel to match the front. Ultagra shifters, 105 crank and Ultagra derailours, Richy bars.....

Looks nice, but you definitely need a few more parts!

Favorite bike in my stable. Stable, comfy and fun. Front fork won't allow to open enough to get wheel past pads and suffers from brake chatter. Add a fork crown mounted cable hanger and all will be good.

Do you have a photo of your bike and a shot of the cable hanger?

    Pics

Pic of Bike (size small) and a few pics of the brake hanger. My last message wasn't totally clear. The brake hanger only fixes the fork shudder. The pads clearance issue is still there. You can't remove front wheel without deflating the tire, not an issue for me and the car rack I use but it'll be a pain with a fork mount rack.

I got the cable hanger from a Specialized dealer for about $15. You can find Tektro ones on Amazon.

    Great looking Scat.

What gearing are you running? How many in the rear? Also, is that a mountain bike rear derailour?

Not sure how to set mine up? I'm running a 105 road bike crank, 10 speed cassette and am Ultagra RD.

Also, what's the biggest tire we can run? I'm wondering if I can put a 29er tire on?

Almost finished! Pretty stoked since it came to me as a frame only.

Just need to add bar tape, stem spacers, and change out rear wheel and cassette.

The bike is a 2x9 running Ultegra 9 sp shifters mated with an Ultegra Front Derailleur and as you noticed a 9sp Deore XT rear derailleur. I usually run a 50/34 with a 12-27 cassette but the long cage derailleur lets me run a 11-34 mtb cassette for rides in the mtns. A short cage derailleur would work find with a 27 or 28 cassette. The bike started out as a parts box bike and I mounted up what I had laying around. A few upgrades every now and then but it is still a Mutt of a bike.

Cool. I'm trying to decided what gearing to run. I'm thinking a mountain bike gearing on the rear with an LX mtb rd.

I have that exact same one. I use it as a commuter and it's fantastic. Did replace the fork with a surly fork.

    The big problem
On this frame was the fork that came with it. It was a round leg fork that really didn't have big tire clearance .

But frame wise, I still have the frame set in the basement I'll try and put one of my wider tire sets in later today .
