    is a dirtbag race worthy?

so i'm looking at building up a new full suspension. i want to be able to use it for both freeride and race dh on it. i'd probably build it up with a 888 or a boxxer. do you think it'll fair well racing or should i get a more dh oriented bike?

i don't think the dirtbag would make a great racer.. it's more of a thick huck bike.
It's quite heavy, and the geo is more freeride oriented.

having said that, i've seen people race on Dirtbags... but i bet a DHR or a Sunday would feel miles better on a race course.

    cheers.

perhaps you should look at the gran mal and just run a different shock when you want to race

what about the geometries makes the grand mal more racey? they're almost the same except the dbag has a slightly lower bottom bracket, shorter chainstays (which i want) and an inch shorter wheelbase. see the thing is i don't feel like i need a 9'' travel bike. i've ridden hardtails for years, this is going to be my first full suspension bike. I already keep up with the full sus guys on my ht so i feel like if travel is the only limiting factor of the dirtbag i'd be ok. plus i don't only want to race this thing so i think the grand mal might be alittle too much bike for me. so am i missing something?

Send the guys at transition an email

Talk to the builders of the bike they are known to be quite willing to help out.
