Here's my Ace, just finished building it today, still have to fine tune the front derailleur, spent the whole afternoon on it without sucess... Unfortunately due to a lesion on my knee it will take some time to take it to the trail.

Nice ride and video eujinc. The Fred 'Shed is a rough trail; then again, I went when the rocks were slick and humidity was 95%. Cool to see another Sette in MD. Check out my pic from the 'shed overlook above.

Here is my new Sette Morph... I've added HOPE skewers and quick release, Price Point hooked me up w/ a 2010 FSA SL-K seat post since the other was faulty, THE locking grips, and a Sette EVO saddle.... I can't get over how light this bike is... Very impressed w/ the new SLX components... That's coming from my last bike which was a Salsa w/ Race Face Next cranks, and XT/XTR components... The SLX components can take more of a beating IMO...

I don't have any good pictures of the bike complete, but here's a picture where I'm riding and others are walking. This was my first race on the new build. I was happy with the ride. But, I got a very average result.

ive been running the piranha in the rear and it works well but it struggles in the loose if i get out of the saddle. the python in the front is excellent though.
ive thought about trying the python in the rear it may work better.
looking at your rear tire and my python it's a multi directional tire and yours is set to be front. try turning your rear around and see if that helps.

    Instinct

The bike arrived well packed and the box (within another box) was not at all beat up.Everything was wrapped and padded well. Much better experience than my last online bike purchase directly from a smaller Cali manufacturer.

I could never stand those narrow flat bars so I swapped it. I didn't want to score/scratch the FSA carbon seatpost so I threw on the Truvativ Alu until I get everything dialed in just right. What's the weight limit on the stock FSA carbon post anyway - I'm 225? Swapped the saddle, tires, stem, grips and added my pedals and a few frame saver patches. Wheel decals seem very fragile. I like the bike and it's my first carbon frame MTB so I find myself riding it like it's made of glass or something. Although I've never ridden hard and was always smooth. No drops or jumps of more than curb height for me as I realize this is an XC carbon frame.

Even the LBS who put it together said they thought it was a beautiful bike .They said the only real issue was getting the brakes bled and dialed in and torquing everything to spec to include the BB and crank bolts. I even got compliments wheeling it out of the shop to my car.

Looking good drmayer. How do you like it so far?

kzsteve, that Instinct looks awesome. Gave a thought or two on the Small Block 8 and ended up deciding for a pair of High Rollers, mainly because the tall knobs on the side. Mind to post your thoughts about the Kendas?

Truthfully I bought them as they are capable of running 85 psi with tubes which allows me to do some road/cardio work. They're good on hard pack and slightly loose singletrack trails too.

I'd prefer to get a second set of wheels and have one for road and one for off road and several sets of tires to swap btw them. Alas the paycheck only goes so far.

Besides those Stan Crow tires that came stock did not impress me. I have yet to convert to tubeless - what can I say.
    No, I don't wanna race.

Good thing I stayed aways from the SM8 then, by the way I take corners I would end up in the ground for sure, ehehhehe.

I'm looking into building a HT with low end parts to get around town and road trips, letting the Ace only for the trail.

    facelessfools how tall are you?

I've seen some of your pictures and the M looks pretty small for you. Are you 100% comfortable with the sizing? How happy are you with the Ace as a race bike?

im right under 5' 11''. As for the fit, its perfect! i have excellent control of the bike while standing, plenty of room for my legs while standing as well. while sitting i prefer a setback post but i always have. with the 110mm stem i could shorten it if i wanted because i have no clearance issues but i like the lower stance while climbing.
i love the ace! i have had some tough races last season and the bike was not slowing me down at all.
my last race was in fontana CA, and they ran the course in reverse so it was a lot of steep singletrack climbs and the ace has very efficient and handled the descents well. the suspension is very bob resistant but shines when it needs to.
i've run a 130mm fork in front but now i have a 100mm and i prefer how low the 100mm gets me.

    Thanks guys!
Yeah, you're probably right highdell. Although it's actually plenty visible from the driver's point of view, it would stay a tad cleaner higher up. I've also considered trying it midway up the left seatstay, but haven't gotten around to it (tho it'd surely get a good coating of trail dust there).

[edit] Oh yeah, considered the seat bag too, but it seems kinda floppy there.

Hmmm, I believe it as about 20.2 lbs before I loaded it down with bags, Ergons, bottle cage, computer, bell, and blinky.
(But I was able to unload about 10 lbs from my midsection this summer, so maybe it evens out. LOL)
