He like it so far. I realized that I had way overbuilt if with certain parts, but they were what I had in the parts box and I wanted to see how it fit before throwing more cash into it. Since that photo, he's got a smaller, lighter front tire and a narrower and FAR lighter bar (164g compared to 430g.) A Stylo crankset and BB are on the way too to replace the boat anchor Hussefelt/Howitzer setup. I think once it gets down to a reasonable weight (24 lbs) for his size (he goes about 75 lbs), he should be able to grind up some climbs he's still having trouble with because the bike is heavy. The best thing is that he should be able to use this set up for at least 3 - 4 years.

    My old Sette
Took me all over Northern California (Humboldt County North, that is) and Oregon.
Currently retired and waiting to be handed off to a new young rider.

This was after one of my rides down Mt Ashland... great place to ride

@highdell: Thanks, Ive only ridden one other roadie and it was also a full carbon so I really dont have much to compare it to. It does have a tapered headtube and steerer tube along with full 105 parts. I believe it has a sort of race bike geometry but what do i know....

I do however prefer the Shimano style shifters over the Sram doubletap style shifters.

I got it because i wanted to improve my mtb fitness but i enjoy riding road just as much as mountain

I plan to race and from my research the 105 components are the "minimum" race groupo. At this pricepoint (no pun intended) I couldve also gotten a BMC carbon w/ 105 groupo for about the same price from competitive cyclist. Those were the two best deals in my price range....The only thing i dont like about the Sette is the gawdy graphics but thats nothing some paint cant fix

Either way I love this bike and I plan on putting a lot of miles on it. My Sette mtb has treated me well thus far so Im expecting to enjoy this rig just as much.
