I wish I never looked at this thread....major lust for a Retrotec now!
How was your experience with dealing with them and lead time?
What would a 29er Classic or Double weigh in at roughly for a 6 foot guy?
    Thanks in advance

Wondering if anyone on the Peninsula or in the South Bay has a Retrotec that I could ride around to get a feel for it? I'm looking for a 29er with around a 23.5" ETT or thereabouts. I just want to feel the curved top tubes and see how it rides.

    Thanks.

I can weigh my triple for you, since it's stripped down to just the frame at this point. It's a size L (24" TT) for my 6-foot frame, but I did have Curtis build it on the sturdier side.

Finger51... nice stuff. What rims did you use or where did you get them done to match? I'm going for the Hot Rod look (Flat Black with Primer Red darts) and would love to have one of those two colors on the rims to match.

The rims are Stan's Arch's- powder coated by Sycip. I'd be embarrassed to mention the cost ...

Here's mine. Had it for only a few days now and loving the ride quality. Such a sweet frame. Heading out for the Prescott Monstercross this morning and then the Whiskey 50 next weekend. Can't wait to roll those miles aboard this new steed.

    My new, half-built Triple

This is a bike that I've been dreaming about for years. Pretty much since my wife got her Classic from Curtis. Ages ago, I found a 26" Classic in a 2nd hand store in Missoula, MT. Now, a friend has it and rides it regularly. That was the beginning of my love of Retrotecs.

To me, Curtis nailed it on this one. Can't wait to go ride it when it's finished.

Anway... here's my new bike. It came today.

    The new Retrotec Triple

Here are some pics of my new Triple. I've been chatting back and forth about this bike with Curtis for a few years. I finally pulled the trigger and the bike was done exactly as I'd envisioned and finished within a week of when Curtis told me when I ordered it. It rides incredibly well and I think it (IMHO) looks fantastic!

    Simple drive side shot.

We're now a 2 Retrotec household. This is my wife's Classic and my Triple outside our house.

More pics here if you're interested. Retrotec Triple 2012.09.28 - a set on Flickr
I built this up with Groovy Luv Handles, Salsa stem/post, Brooks Swift Ti saddle, my old Truvativ Noir carbon crankset, some wheels I built for the bike using Chris King hubs (singlespeed rear)/Sapim CX-Ray bladed spoks/WTB rims (which have worked out fantastically), XO brakes (still need to shorten the hoses) and King cages.
