Caution; Merge; Workers Ahead! New Dog Bone Out Now!

Hello everyone just wanted to let you all know that we currently have a new "dogbone" out. What does this mean you ask? Well basically if you would like your F5 lower to the ground and are currently having stand over issues this would be your winning ticket.

Bellow I will show you all how to replace a (dogbone) in the first installment of "CHUMBA University" and in the process you will see how our drive side goes together (for those that have had problems with chain guides).

The process is fairly simple and can be done with one set of hands, the difficulty level is 2 out of a possible 5.

So lets drop'em like their hot!

DB's can be ordered @ 714-986-9100 operators are standing by

    1. The new dogbone looks very nice!

    2. The bike to be worked on.

    3. The rocker assembly drive side.

    4. Bottom Bracket/dogbone non-drive side.

    5. Remove rocker shock mount screw.

    6. Screw is out (wow that was easy).

    7. Swing shock up and out of the way.

    8. Time to remove the chain guide lower pulley.

    9. Lower pulley off (simple).

    10. Remove upper chain guide taco (makes me hungry).

    Steps 11-18

    11. Slide it back to the end of the bike.

    12. Wow look A naked chain ring (close your eyes if you are under 18).

    13. Remove your drive side crank.

    14. Put your back into it.

    15. Crank and chain ring off (wow your good at this).

    14. The bottom bracket axel exposed.

    15. Remove the chain guide boomerang.

    16. Boomerang off.

    17. CHUMBA chain guide mount exposed.

    18. Remove upper dogbone screw.

    19-29

    19. Screw is out.

    20. Remove lower dogbone screw non-drive side.

    21.Screw is out.

    22. Tap swing link upper mount.

    23. Lift tire and tap a few more times to pop out upper dogbone pivot.

    24. Use a leaver and wedge out lower dogbone mount.

    25. Almost there.

    26. Ahhhhh at last it's out.

    27. Now replace with new dogbone in reverse order.

28.The new and the old (note that the lower DB mount non-drive side has a thinner screw and the upper mount to the swing link has a thicker screw the holes on the dogbone correspond to this large to large thin to thin).

    29. Go have fun and enjoy your bike!

Wow, that is one comprehensive "how-to". Well done. So, I don't own and F5, but I'm sure others are wondering, too. What are the new geo numbers? Lower BB, slacker HA, slacker SA, and longer WB?

Please take some before and after measurements.

Pretty cool to see the pics of the swingarm and linkage torn down like that, don't have an F5 but def on the short list. Does it ride like a KTM?

+1 for update geometry specs. I'm not even sure I could have a lower BB with all the rocks on the East Coast.

I am very very happy with my new fixed brake mount. There of course is a trade off, but worth it I think.

BB and HA measurements with new dogbone

Has anyone compared actual BB and HA measurements with the new DB? I would like to know. Thanks.

got mine last week. Original BB was at like 14.6". New BB height is at about 14". Not too sure about the HA but it's definitely slacker...

I can confirm the just over a half inch lower BB and I measured 1.4 degrees slacker HA.

I can't get the upper dog bone bolt out. The nut threaded itself out but the bolt isn't going anywhere. Apply some penetrating lube and bash it?

They have been out for sometime. I got my links several months ago directly from Chumba.

    Looking for longer dogbone.

Does anyone have the longer dogbone or rigid brake mount they would like to sell?

So is this through Chumba? So they still are in business? Will they actually answer the phone? I would be mighty skeptical buying anything from them due to past issues.

The tread was started in '09 and was dead for over a year old before it was resurected...Chumba went silent on the boards (this one and theirs) ~3 months ago now.

I still keep hearing the tone of a cardiac monitor in flat-line ("beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee....") every time I think of Chumba...

Hi guys, there is a email address to order the dogbone 3.5?
The phone number will help me unfortunately, since I'm from Germany.
Chumba responded to my emails, unfortunately not,but I would like to have the 3.5 dogbone for my bike for sure.

Tomek...a lot of people here have been trying to get a hold of Chumba for a while. They have basically vanished and it's been extremely difficult for anyone to get a hold of them.

I wouldn't hold out much hope of getting a Dogbone 3.5...ride what you have, enjoy it until it breaks is about the best I can tell you for now.
