I'll get some up soon, my friend is in LA and I'm in Sac. But on a more positive note, it looks like the Zulu is going to be mine. I'm going to have to pimp this thing out

Oh heck ya. This is a project to teach myself technical riding ability since I'm coming from a roadie background. I'm in and around pinole a lot for work. Hey whats a really good beginner (i.e. tame) DH race to learn on near us

cccx down in salinas is a pretty tame race where it's pretty smooth and you'll be fine on a 5 - 6" bike. Fun race where everyone is supportive and the atmosphere is just amazing whilst still being a little competitive. Sea Otter which is happening next month is pretty tame as well.

If you're talking about trails, JMP in Oakland has quite a bit with some stuff for big bikes and some stuff for small bikes. Good way to ease into it. Then, there's Pacifica... And once it opens in the summer, Northstar... Lemme know if you wanna ride. I'm still taking it easy as i've been off the bike for almost 4 months now due to an injury. Wanna slowly get my legs and chops back.

Looks like I'll have it wednesday. WOOT! I'm curious what putting a more modern fork will do to the geometry. I'll have pics up soon.

suspension technology has come a long way... you'll feel more in the difference of damping then you would geometry unless you're going with a drastically different a2c

I picked it up this morning. It's going to need a lot of TLC. looks like someone left it out in the rain for a day, so I gotta replace all those bolts and bearings. I'm going to be parting out a lot of the components, first to go is that seat. Ok, here's the porn

    New fork on a Zulu

I put a 888 on my Zulu last year and it has worked great.
It looks like you have a Stratos shock on the rear. I just broke my Romic at Bootleg last month, but it had worked well for many years. Researching a replacement, I found that Avalanche has a killer replacement available.
I would also suggest that you check/replace the plates between the rockers in front of the shock. I see you have the older plates that are hollow in the middle. I was told several years ago by another Zulu rider that those are prone to breakage and I contacted Chumba for the solid replacements. I think I also replaced the rockers due to some cracking.
Overall, the Zulu is a great bike and I have been rocking mine since 2001.
Trying to figure out a way to afford an F5 (rode a demo at South Mountain and also at Bootleg, it kicks ass).
Good luck with the classic ride.
Now I DRIVE the short bus!!

oh nice! Yeah right now I'm in the process of repainting the frame. Also I sold the 02 boxxer and bought an 03 for the same price. I'm adding the 08 Motion Control unit and solo air cartridge. I 'm selling the Stratos Shock as I already bought a a Swinger 4 way for it. Sold the brakes adding something Shimano on there, (I have a million levers, but no calipers right now). I'll post pics as it moves along. And does anyone know where to get some Chumba decals?

He does anyone have the Geometery thats on the Zulu. Mines still in pieces but its coming together pretty rapidly. I'm just curious what the head angle is (and what axle to crown they measured it with or what fork) and also what the BB height is.
