Might be too obsure... Anyone got or had a Whyte JW2?

I have got the bug again... Been a while and I dont need the newest or greatest MTB. I just need something that is a little better and more suited to me than my old bike (Checker Pig). I need a bike that is a little more up right than my old Checker Pig which is a bit of an old school race bike.. Low and long. I snapped a ligament attached to my collar bone so now it is too uncomfortable to ride for any length of time.. I had looked at an Orange Crush but I have had too much time away to go and get a new bike and then find I am not up to it and I can possibly get a JW2 quite cheap. 300ish here in the UK. I have some DX and XT gear set parts on my Checker Pig that may be usable as an up grade on the Whyte I was just wondering if anyone had one or has one and what they think.. Also worth while upgrades to re-fresh the now 10 year old shocks ect....

If you dont know what they look like here is a photo... This is a JW4 with the black forks.. I have been offered a JW2 with the disk up grade which has gold forks.. But the basic bike is the same..From what I can tell..

No so much obscure as it is not vintage in any way.

The earlier Whyte PRST is sort of vintage and was licensed to Marin for the Quad Link design.

The JW2 is only a couple of years newer and it still an, over, 11 year old design..

Hey, I'm going to move your thread over to the custom builders forum where it may get some more responses.

I did a quick search for you and found there are indeed fans of Whyte.

For the John Whyte / Marin fans....
