ride the Bluff Sat (depending on conditions)
will most likely just be a fire road ride on some bounce a$$ foot pounded snow cover, but between the Bluff and Haley can probably get a 1/2 decent ride in to at least help cure the ride jones.
gunna update and post on CT-nemba's forums but can post here if interested and not a member over there.

My group would like to start around 10:30am. Does that work for you?
-

Sounds good. Will check in here tomorrow night.

thinking maybe a bit earlier... got reports the sun is warming the snow and making slush, plus they are saying rain to hit right around noon in the area.. probably 9:30 would be better... can you guys get here by then?

I think so. We had discussed that it might need to be earlier to beat the weather. Desperation is setting in, so I'm sure it'll be worth losing a little sleep over.
-
thinking of calling it off,.. got 2 reports today of it just not being worth it.. not only snow/slush/ice mix but sand too... all mixing into a muddy destructive mess on the bike

yeah, I guess we'll just have to hope it sticks to rain and opens stuff up for the future.

Too much slush!!
Hey Rev, you didn't miss anything. I went to Bluff around 12:30 Saturday and even the fire roads were all but impassable. We made it to the point and back but it was a tough fight all the way, ran into a couple riders coming back on the fire road to the RR tracks and they said conditions were the same.
Hopefully all the rain this week and the wind predicted at the end of the week will melt the snow and wick away the water, possibly ride this weekend.

Let's try Sunday the 3rd.. Bluff Point..
OK,.. gunna try again.. Sunday... hopefully with the rain Weds and Thurs, and sun Fri and Sat, that Sunday Bluff should be snow free and pretty well dried out (it dries out pretty fast, well in most areas )
So... gunna keep updates on the CTNEMBA forums... but post up here if ya want to join in...
after the rain Bluff? Sunday?

May be in, we'll see how things dry out. Took me about 4 hours to get all the sand and crud off the bike from the last attempt!! What time you thinking?
-
the usual 10-10:30 ish time...
Ya, After I went and tried during the week I had the slush and sand mix that just worked into every little crease...took like an hour to just get the brakes to stop grinding... took another hour just doing a basic wipe down and didn't even bother doing my normal OCD cleaning of the whole bike (anyone who knows me knows this is a major surprise!!)

Well three of us went out on Saturday and the trails were in great shape. Most trails were dry and firm, the usual spots were muddy/greasy and all the streams were running strong. Lots of bickers, hikers and families out but the trails weren't crowded. Watch out for deadfall, one branch snapped my derailleur hanger and destroyed my derailleur
