How to find group rides in CT?

    Hey everyone,

Noob here. I'm looking for a group ride to help me learn how to ride trails. I was just wondering how to find group rides? I was at case mountain and saw a large group of bikers at the top, and didn't know if they were part of a weekly group or anything.

I am totally new, and have an old bike, but love the feeling of riding outdoors and would love to find other people who I can struggle to keep up with

I will go anywhere in Hartford county or western mass.

    Jay

Most shops lead rides, although not all may be suitable for beginners. Check ahead. Also, meetup.com has a group called Leisure Trail Riders Association that has a lot of rides in central CT. Many are rail trail rides, but some are MTB. In particular, look for Ride After Work (RAW) rides that are no-drop and tailored to beginners. Experienced riders looking for an easier pace will enjoy these too.

Use it, use it, use it while you still have it.

Check Crankfire.com or Bikerag.com, ride sections
For Fairfield County area you can go to FCNEMBA.org we have weekly RAW rides for specific parks through Fairfield county

I'll reiterate the point about looking for "no drop" or "all ability" rides - the LTRA is great for that. If you don't see those terms in the ride description, it will likely not be an enjoyable experience for you or for the group.

Just re-read what I posted, I don't mean to sound like a jerk, just trying to be realistic.

    I'll try again:

Welcome to the sport! If you can't find any rides to join - PM me (or post back here), I am more than happy to take a ride with you, I can show you some good spots.

There are several group rides a week at Robinson State Park in Agawam Ma. Pretty sure one of them is a no drop ride. Send a PM to TheHare for more info on the Robinson scene. I would also be happy to show you around there sometime.

Robinson is also the most beginner friendly place around, but still lots of fun. Mostly buff, rock free, tight and twisty single track with limited climbing.

I rode Trumbull a few times, that place is awesome. Can't wait to give that a try on my new bike. Do you mind if I tag along on your next ride?

Probably going to head to West Rock again today when I get offaround 3:30-4. Anyone up for a ride? I'm a bit out of shape and awaiting my clipless pedals so I am a tad slow at the moment.
