    Cowles Park / East Granby

    Hi everyone,

One of my good friends just decided he wants to give mountain biking a try. He lives out in Tariffville, very close to where the Metacomet enters into Cowles Park. I would really love to take him out on some trails, but I am looking for something relatively basic to get him started. Is anyone familiar with the trails at Cowles? Are they super technical or is there some doubletrack/easier singletrack? Any other recommendations for trails in that area?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello,

Inside the park itself the trails are pretty easy with some double and single track and even the power line that runs thru it. Inside the park is pretty small though not a lot of mileage. The tougher climbs and better trails with more climbing and mileage are on the other side of the power lines that will lead you up to the Metacomet along the ridge. Excellent view of the Tarrifville Gorge from up there!

    Hi Jayman -

Thank you for your quick response! Also, that's what I was hoping to hear. :-) Now I can feel good doing a little adventuring with my friend without worrying about hitting the tough stuff and having it be too difficult for him. And he will have something to work up to with the Metacomet up there on the ridge!
