The one time you'd actually want a bike thief to show up, they're all out having a short beer.
The ridiculousness of cycling clothes increase exponentially in relation to the distance from your bicycle.

This would suck. I'm not so sure I want to carry my angle grinder around with me, but it would come in handy at times like this.

Yes. I'd call my wife to bring the grinder. I'd be very tempted to lock the culprit's bike up with a note where the owner could find me to unlock it so we could have a conversation about how to lock up a bike more courteously.

    Ah, those crazy montrealers.

As one of the comments on the original article mentioned, locking a bike to your bike could very well be a theft tactic.

^^ If so, sounds like a nice place for a police stake out, provided that they are serious about breaking up bike theft groups.
