    What to upgrade first?

Just bought used Trek FX 7.1 (2009). It looks great and it is a mint condition. Just curious, according to your experiance, what would upgrade first on such a bike. Please advise?

    Thanx.

I had a 2010 FX 7.3 about 2 years ago that I bought off CL for 250. I spent about the same amount of money upgrading the bike. I got a carbon fork, carbon bars, carbon seatpost, old richey pro stem, eggbeater pedals, and a selle italia slr carbonio saddle.

It made the bike much lighter and more responsive. Also, all of the carbon made it a much less bumpy ride.

Here are some pics of the bike w/o the carbon fork and pedals

It was just under 21lbs if I remember correctly.

Really depends on you, the condition of the bike, and what you want out of it. Replace anything that's too worn to use, make it ready for a few commutes and ride it, then upgrade as you find pain points that need correcting. Maybe you'll want to upgrade a bunch of stuff, maybe you'll be happy as it is and save the money for something else.
