    The state of Indiana still has not passed a bill defining "safe distance" as 3 feet or any particular distance.

    Yeah, the state is pretty terrible about that. a number of cities have, though.

    Here in KY, cars are supposed to leave at least 3 feet. It doesn't always happen, and I doubt it's enforced. I'm not even sure drivers are aware of the law.

    VT has a bill being weighed that requires 3' for 30mph pass, 4" for 40 mph, 5' for 50mph. It probably makes too much sense to pass.

    That bill definitely makes way too much sense. It'll never go anywhere.
