Saw that in the other thread. That is one sweet ride. I'd like to build up an internal hub bike sometime, 7, 8 or 9 speed. I'd love to run a Rohloff but that is way too far out of my price range. But for now, I must be content to wrench on my girlfriend's 3-speed.

Thanks I'm really pleased with the way it turned out.

More info from Frame manufacturer: www.steelwoolbicycles.ca

Get a Shimano Nexus 7 ($?) or Alfine about $300 US its not that expensive. The ride is fantastic, and no cleaning casettes any more, and no chain slap! Sturmey 3 speeds rock too! just don't stand up while pedalling if it is a mens frame!

    Cheers

Well, here at about the same longitude in Wisconsin, commuting takes place year round. At least for some of us.

    Commuting Season

Alright I'm a wimp, but in Ottawa, very hard to commute 12 mos/year, too much slush, and way too much snot to ride 16 miles each way!

I figured out you were local just from the steelwool pics sitting in front of the counter at talltree... didn't have to read past the first message at all.

Ottawa (for the un-enlightened) has two seasons.... winter and construction. At least during the winter the commute to aylmer from kanata gets quicker.... STRAIGHT across the river (which freezes two feet thick at that end).

Reminds me of a friend of mine who goes to NDU. On living in South Bend, IN; "The winters suck, but the other 6 months of the year are great!"
