    Show and Tell

I was having some trouble finding fenders to fit over the 26x3.0 tires on my new commuter cruiser when a friend suggested just making my own fenders out of wood. Took me only a couple of hours total over two days to throw this one together. The cost of materials was less that $20 and it was pretty easy to do. I still need to put together the front one, that'll happen next weekend.

Took a piece of 1/8"x3"x48" walnut and soaked it, bent it around a 700c wheel, and dried it off. Repeated the procedure a second time with a tighter radius. Used a piece of 1/8"x36" brass rod as the rear support. Finished with Interlux Schooner Varnish.

Brass and walnut. Can`t get much prettier than that combo! Hurry up and do the front- the back end is looking lonely.
