no clothing I've seen from those fibers is anything approximating cheap. I had pro deal privileges with smartwool for awhile and even then, the stuff wasn't even close to cheap.
another fiber to add to the list of expensive natural fibers is coconut. Eddie Bauer uses it (called Cocona) in some items.
and you're not going to get one of these things to keep you dry in the rain. none of these sorts of fibers makes a very effective shell material. you will need something else for a shell if you plan to use one of the above fabrics for insulation. nothing stays warm when it's wet because of the thermal conduction properties of water.
