It would seem to need a lot of attention with the typical pedestrians about, so the cell phone use while riding has got to be too distracting to be safe. Hit someone's foot or leg and you get a nice face plant if you can't get a leg out to step off quickly. The pads and helmets of roller blading might be wise. I also wonder if the bans on roller blading in some urban areas would apply. It is essentially a large wheeled roller skate.

It looks like you can get a pretty decent clip going, especially on a downhill. And it has no brakes. What could go wrong?

I read a review on one. Apparently they are nearly impossible to ride.

Not yet, but they look kinda cool and at least they can go in a somewhat straight line. Wait until you see one of these trikes on the street: Trikkeâ„¢ Official Site

They are impossible to pass because they move forward by the user rocking the thing side to side. The thing will oscillate down the bike path requiring about 2.5m wide area and the oscillation is fast enough that I found it impossible to pass until I got to an intersection where there was an opening in the parked cars and I could sprint ahead.

I've seen a few of these around. Checking your link, I see they are made 45 minutes south of my locale. There is also someone desperately trying to pawn one on our local craigslist. It's been on the list forever and religiously renewed every few days. It's down to $80 now after being well above $100 at one point.

Yeah had to negotiate a whole pack of dumb asses on those tricycle things in front of the White House. If it's not the Segways in the bike lanes, it's something else. Honestly, just get a bike.

    Some things should remain un-invented.

That tricycle thing is like looking at a rollerblader and thinking "How can I make that take up even more space and be even less manuevaerable. There must be a way to come up with something that's even more ungainly than the streetski."

My new wheels should be on my doorstep as we speak. I won’t be passing any bikecommuters, but I hope to scoot around the office campus and maybe on some of the bikepath segments around here that are annoyingly short on a bike.
