The Gates belt drive system surely rocks—longer life expectancy than with a chain, and a much quieter drive system. Also, I can vouch for the stupid simple awesomeness that is the Shimano Alfine 8-speed internally-geared hub—sure, it weighs just a bit more, but it is pretty much idiotproof to set up and adjust, and although supposedly not designed for anything but road use mine has roughly 2,000 miles of offroad abuse and is still humming along nicely on a 47lb. bike.

So, looks like a decent commuter setup.

I like the geometry. Shimano dyno hub, too. For my roads and my weight/cargo I'd like more spokes in my wheels, but I bet that's the stock Shimano wheelset. 700-32's and it looks like room for more with fenders. Interesting that the seat stay break point to replace the belt is about mid-stay.
