    commuter set up.

    hey all...
i'm setting up a second, commuter specific, wheelset for my 08 GF XCal 29er for a route with a lot of concrete, curbs and construction.

    disc wheelset
    cassette, 9speed 11-34
    160mm disc rotors x2
    tires x2
    tubes x2

been out of biking for awhile now and just want to make sure i'm not missing anything. linked to some products i was considering as well.
    Thanks!

I'm thinking of doing the same when I get a 29er. I'd say to buy the same hubs as you have on the existing then have a shop put on a cyclocross rim (is there such a thing?). My theory is that by having the similar hubs, you should be able to get the disc brakes to line up perfectly. I don't know if that is possible if you get a 2nd brand involved.

getting the same hubs and rotors will give you a better chance of not haveing to adjust the caliper as much.
Why not just try swaping tires for now and seeing how it works out?

thanks for the comments on the hubs and rotors.

as for swapping tires, that's the short term plan, but i used to do that in the past and it just got to be a pain in the ass.

You might be able to get a great commuter bike for about the same price.
